Cast Iron Layered Apple Pie

How to make a delicious layered apple pie right on your grill. This rustic cast iron apple pie is a family favourite shared from our cousins in Georgia! Turn your grill into an oven and layer apples and cinnamon sugar to create a mouth-watering dessert your family and friends will love!

  1. Preheat grill or oven to 350f
  2. Place butter in cast iron skillet and place on grill to melt
  3. Remove from grill and sprinkle brown sugar over the butter, return to grill while preparing sliced apples
  4. Remove skillet and place 1 pie crust on top of brown sugar and butter mixture
  5. Top pie crust with half of the sliced apples, 1/4 cup of white sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon
  6. Top with second pie crust and repeat first layer with apples, sugar and cinnamon
  7. Top with third pie crust, sprinkle with 1 Tbsp sugar, dot with little chunks of butter, and cut 4 slits in the top
  8. Bake for approximately 40-45 min until top crust is golden brown.

  • 1/4 cup butter plus extra for sprinkling on top
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 5 apples peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 3 homemade or pre-rolled store bought pie crusts, trimmed to fit bottom of the skillet
  • 1/2 cup + 1 Tbsp white sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
